This is a Travel Blog, this is not a Travel Blog.

This is a collection of 20 years of exploring, seeing things, living things, feeling things. This is a product of my curiosity, my passion to discover, learn, dare to see beyond what is said in the typical travel guides. These are my choices, the by-product of choosing to still sleep in hostel dorms in my grown -up years, taking the busses, trains and metros instead of taxis to discover the other side of the coin, choosing to spend most of my income on airline tickets, choosing to jump on a plane after a demanding work trip, to go hike some temples in Myanmar or discover a new island country that not many has heard of, instead of taking it easy at a hotel room, like most others would do. This is a result of not giving a damn when people say “but that’s crazy to take 12 flights in 10 days” or when people say “but you need at least 2 or 3 weeks in that country”. This is a sign of my energy to be able to take 12 flights in 10 days and the sign of my determination by never giving up on the thought of “better to see a country for a day than never”. This is the result of my obsession to get country points. This is me going on my own authentic way while most others take the road of slowing down, growing up, settling in, going on annual holidays to popular destinations once or twice a year, staying at nicer places. This is me not choosing to take those roads. This is a sum of “all the roads that I have NOT taken”.

This is thinking the cities, countries have their own soul and personality and believing that each time we visit a new place, we encounter a new affair or build a new relationship. This is also my eyes communicating with my soul, my thoughts touching my keypad, my desire to share, to connect, to reach out, to have an opinion rather than staying indifferent or silent. This is me choosing to be a traveler and an observer and not a tourist. At least not all the time.

These are my personal opinions. These are my 2 cents. This is a blog of an opinionated traveler collecting county points.

It has been an interesting journey. Not over yet, not until I collect all the country points in the world. Stay with me.

I am a female traveler and blogger who was born and raised by the Turquoise waters, grew up in the city that never sleeps and chose the canals as the final resting place and home base, while not on the road or in the air.

I am a Traveler, I am an Opinionated Traveler

I am a professional individual with limited holidays. All my trips are self sponsored, from my regular salary over the years. I can afford it not because I am rich, but because I prioritize travel expenses over many other things. I prioritize experiences over acquiring material. I am not a backpacker. But I am a backpacker. I sometimes stay in the hotels, but often in the hostels. I never had a leap year or time off from school or from work. I did and do all my travels during standard vacation time or weekends. So I was never a proper backpacker. But I do not own a luggage, I go everywhere with a backpack. Does that make me a backpacker?

I do not travel to take time off from life. I travel because it does not make sense not to. We have one planet and if we have a chance to see it all in one life time, then why not? I am a curious person. I want to see a lot, experience a lot. I want to finish the first round real fast so I can relax and go back to the places I liked the most to spend more time.

I am also not a tourist most of the time. I do google the “top things to do” or “top sights to visit” before I go to a new country and I do visit the top sights. But I am not there just to have a nice vacation, I am there to imagine how it would be to live in that country, to understand the people, the culture, to learn, to reflect, to observe, to have an opinion. I enjoy the research before I go to a new country, I feel joy when I get a new stamp on my passport and count each new country I see as a “new country point”. I then often find a piece of paper and start writing when I start feeling the soul of the country and have a new experience.

I Travel Out as much as and as far as possible. Then, I reflect, write, observe my inner world, make a Journey In, as deep as and as meaningful as possible.
